Recently, the number of animals in danger has increased. As we know, animals are part of our ecosystem and play a very important role in our plant. They can help to balance the ecosystem. They also have many benefits in our daily lives, such as the source of nutrition, researches and pets. However, people always ignored this issue and their function in the ecosystem. There are several causes of animals in danger, habitat destruction, global warming, and illegal hunting.
First, the habitat of animals has been destroyed which is a primary cause of extinction. The population of the world continue to increase. According to the United Nations, world population reached 7.5 Billion in 2016. More than 500million in 2011. (1) Due to human population grows, people need to more space to live by destroying the places where animals live. For example, people fill marshes, dam rivers and cut down trees to build homes. (2) in addition, with the human population explosion, human activities become more frequently which causes pollution and destroying their habitats. For instance, water pollution has been harmful for many species of fish and birds. They cannot survival in their habitat. (3) Moreover, human actives release harmful chemicals into air, so a great deal of animals cannot adapt to these chemical in the air and they die. (4)
Global warming also cause the animals become endangered. As above mentioned, human cut down trees for developments. In fact, few trees mean more greenhouse gases in the air which increased the speed of global warming. Today, Scientists find that global warming is already causing extinctions.in the Antarctic, because of decline of sea ice, ice algae diminished a lot, which is a basic food for many fish. (5) Consequently, for example, a study find that the number of krill has decreased dramatically. (6) Following the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List, over 22,000 species of animals are endangered species, around 12 percent of animals on the list that are endangered due to climate change.(7) In fact, a temperature increase even 1 degree can affect animals’ life. However, “Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit around the world since 1880”, NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies shows. (8)
finally, because human ignore rules to hunt animals, animals become endangered.as a says goes, “No sale, no harm”. It is true that human’s demand for wildlife lead to overhunting. In Reading explorer 3, the authors Paul Macintyre and David Boehlke describe that in the past, by wearing the feathers means you capture the animal’s life power. (9) Also, the feather can decorate European ladies’ hats. With these reasons, demand for the birds’ beautiful feathers which live in New Guinea results in a huge amount of hunting. (10) Moreover, in some culture, people want to eat endanger animals because they think it will stronger their body. For example, Guangdong province, south China, many people believe that Cantonese will eat anything including endangered species. (11) On main reason is that Ancient medical writings influence them, which described that after you eat rare animals’ any organ, your organ will get the same nutrition. (12) Despite protective laws, poaching go on to remain a problem.
In conclusion, Animals become endangered because of habitat destruction, global warming, and illegal hunting. It is a suggestion that improve awareness of protect endangered animals and try to help endangered animals.
